Within 30 days of establishing residency, drivers need to obtain a Missouri
operator’s license, renewable every three years.
The Missouri Department of
Revenue maintains the License Bureau office at 3610 Buttonwood Drive (573-882-9593).
The Bureau is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and the
last Saturday of each month from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
The State of Missouri requires a vision test and a written test on Missouri
traffic laws. No driving test is required if you have a valid out–of–state
driver’s license and your social security card. If your out–of–state
license has expired, however, you must take the driving and the written test.
To renew your existing Missouri license, you must pass the vision test and
present your previous driver’s license. The vision test, driving test, and
written examinations are given at the License Bureau office at 3610 Buttonwood
Drive. To prepare for the written test, a Missouri Driver’s Manual is
available at the Bureau’s office.
To register your vehicle at the License Bureau, you must present proof of
insurance, a current safety inspection and a tax waiver from the County
Assessor’s Office.
